Background

In 2020, the State Council issued Guiding Opinions on “Cross-provincial Government Services” to all provincial governments to pave the way for driving cross-provincial government services nationwide. Departments of provincial governments take forward the initiative on a continuous basis by providing cross-provincial services, both online and offline, that are closely related to enterprise development and people’s livelihood, making it more convenient in accessing government services across provinces.

In 2021, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSARG) was invited by the Guangdong Provincial Government to participate in the "Cross-boundary Public Services" (CBPS) initiative in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). The objective is to enable enterprises and the public in both regions to enjoy simple and convenient cross-boundary services, facilitate the provision of public services and investment in the GBA, and enhance the satisfaction and sense of contentment of enterprises and the public in accessing services across the boundary.

This thematic website is the first stage of the CBPS initiative taken forward by the HKSARG. It provides information related to CBPS of the HKSARG encompassing service areas commonly used by enterprises and the public, enabling those in Mainland to conveniently obtain related application information and access the services. The website also provides a hyperlink to the Guangdong's CBPS service area to facilitate the public to instantly access relevant information and CBPS provided by the municipalities in Guangdong Province.
