  • Full driving licence
    • Holders of full driving licence within 3 years of expiry and aged below 70 on the day of application
  • Additional conditions for full driving licence for commercial vehicle class(es)
    • Holder of a Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card; or
    • Holder of a Hong Kong Identity Card (other than a Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card) and is not subject to any condition of stay (other than a limit of stay as defined in section 2(1) of the Immigration Ordinance (Cap. 115) of Hong Kong law)
  • Apply online via iAM Smart or GovHK (by clicking on the button under “Quick Links”)
  • Applicants should have:
    • An iAM Smart+ account with digital signing function / a valid personal digital certificate issued by recognised Certification Authorities / Renewal Password issued by the Transport Department by post for authentication
    • An image file of proof of present address (issued not more than 3 months from the date of submitting application)
    • An image file of the Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card (for renewal of full driving licence with commercial vehicle class(es))

  • Payment methods
    • Credit card (Visa, MasterCard, JCB or China UnionPay), FPS or PPS
  • Upon successful renewal, the Transport Department will send the renewed licence to applicants’ correspondence address by registered post within 10 working days.
